Alexandre Teixeira

MD, FIPP

Alexandre Teixeira, MD, FIPP has been a full time pain doctor since 2000 in a private practice in Porto, Portugal. He has a special interest in Pulsed Radiofrequency. Dr Teixeira was trained and maintained a close relationship with the inventor of pulsed radiofrequency Prof. Menno Sluijter since 1997, with whom, he published several articles in reference journals and chapters in books on the subject.
They published the first applications of PRF for acute radicular pain due to discal hernias, the intraarticular PRF in small and large joints, the intradiscal PRF. They are co-inventors of the STP (Sluijter-Teixeira Pulsed) current an irregular PRF current. They are working in the application of PRF in non-pain conditions in humans and they co-invented the application of PRF to seeds.
Dr Teixeira is a member of the WIP since its foundation, and has been appointed as an examiner and instructor for the WIP examinations on several occasions. He has also been appointed as a reviewer for Pain Practice, Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine and Acta Médica Portuguesa.He has s been invited as a lecturer at several national and international pain symposiums.
