Jan Willem Kallewaard

Dr Jan Willem Kallewaard, MD, PhD, FIPP did his anesthesiology training at the Academic Hospital in Utrecht (UMCU) (1993-1998). During his residency, he was member of the residents’ board and member of the board of the NVA.

In 1998 he obtained the registration as Anesthesiologist and Pain Physician. Since his registration he worked as anesthesiologist in the Rijnstate Hospital in Arnhem .
He obtained a scientific affiliation with the University Medical Center Maastricht. He obtained the certificate of Fellow in Interventional Pain Practice in 2011 as winner of the Hassenbush price. Since 2017 he also practices pain medicine at the University Medical Center Amsterdam. Since 2018 he is head of the Pain department in the AMC. Since 2005 he is member of the board of the Professional Interest Committee (Beroeps Belangen Commissie) of the NVA. He was Vice president of the NVA between 2008 and 2010 and was president of the NVA from 2011 to 2014.

Dr Kallewaard was president of the pain section of the NVA in the period 2014-2018 and still acts as vice president. He was member of the sounding board group of the MinT study: Dutch cost effectiveness study of the effects of RF treatment for a specific low back pain. He participates in the sounding board group neuromodulation with Zorginstituut Nederland (ZIN) and in the project implementing PROMS, practice variation, quality outcome measures in pain and neuromodulation in the Netherlands.

He stimulated the update of the practice guidelines on Evidence-based interventional pain medicine. Atthis moment studies are running for discogenic low back pain, neuropathic knee pain, VR and multiple studies on neuromodulation.
Dr Kallewaard is frequently conducts epiduroscopy trainings and cadaver workshops for Neuromodulation and the World Institute of Pain. He also is demanded as speaker on discography, epiduroscopy, and neuromodulation.
Jan Willem finished his PhD on Diagnosis and minimal invasive treatments fr discogenic low back pain in November 2019.

MD, FIPP, EDPM, PhD

Koen Van Boxem, MD, FIPP, EDPM, PhD is an Anesthesiologist from Belgium. He had extensive training in pain therapy, and in 2002 he became a Fellow Interventional Pain Practice (FIPP). In 2014 he completed his PhD in Lumbosacral radicular pain at University Maastricht in The Netherlands. Dr Van Boxem also has a
European Diploma Pain Medicine (EFIC).
Currently he is President of Vlaamse Anesthesiologische Vereniging voor Pijnbestrijding (VAVP), Member Educational Committee of World Institute of Pain, and Vice-President of the Benelux Section of World Institute of Pain.
Dr. Van Boxem has been involved in 22 articles on pain (Hirsch factor 7), his lectures mainly focus on radicular pain (pathophysiology, pulsed radiofrequency, epidural corticosteroid injections) and is involved in evidence-based guideline development of pain therapy.

Agnes Stogicza

MD, FIPP, CIPS, ASRA-PMUC

Dr. Agnes Stogicza is a board-certified anesthesiologist and pain physician more than 15 years of experience in interventional pain management. She completed her pain fellowship at the University of Washington, where she served as faculty from 2010 to 2017. As a clinician-educator she treated pain patients and taught fluoroscopy and ultrasound guided minimally invasive interventional pain procedures, regional anesthesia techniques and medication management for complex chronic pain patients to pain fellows and residents.

Currently she works in chronic interventional pain and anesthesia in Budapest at Saint Magdolna Private Hospital.
She is a member of the World Institute of Pain (WIP) Education Committee, Vice-Chair of the Hungarian Section of WIP and serves as an examiner for the FIPP (Fellow of Interventional Pain Practice) and CIPS (Certified Interventional Pain Sonologist) Board Certification.

She regularly lectures and teaches interventional pain procedures in the US, Europe, South America and Asia for the World Institute of Pain (WIP), the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (ASIPP), the American Society of Regional Anesthesia (ASRA), World Academy of Pain Medicine Ultrasonography (WAPMU) and other societies.
She is a co-founder of Pain School International (https://painschoolinternational.com/) that provides interventional pain education in Budapest for doctors from all around the world.
She has authored and co-authored numerous book-chapters and papers in chronic pain management.
Her main clinical interests are cancer pain, spinal pain and related conditions (headaches, arm and leg pains) and the application of regenerative medicine (such as PRP, Stem cell and prolotherapy) for various spine and musculoskeletal conditions.

Lucian M. Macrea

MD, FIPP

Dr Macrea was born in Hermannstadt / Romania started his academic training in Targu Mures / Romania and graduated from Lübeck / Germany. He started his medical training in surgery at the university hospital in Lübeck and completed his residency in anesthesiology, intensive care and pain management at the university hospital in Geneva / Switzerland. He became a FIPP (Fellow of Interventional Pain Practice) in 2007.

He gained further experience in the interventional pain field and in the multidisciplinary evaluations at the Swiss Paraplegic Center in Nottwil and had a pain research fellowship at the University Hospital of Zurich. He worked in the Multidisciplinary Pain Clinic Cecil in Lausanne / Switzerland and in the Swiss Pain Institute in Lausanne. Currently he leads the Interventional Pain Practice in Lucerne and works as a consultant in Basel’s Schmerzklinik

He was treasurer and chairman of the Swiss Section of the WIP (World Institute of Pain) and is a member of the educational committee of WIP since 2018. He is member of the Executive board of the Swiss Interventional Pain Society. He is very interested in the pain evaluation and performs many neurophysiological measurement to evaluation pain perception (QST -quantitative sensory testing, CHEP’s contact heat evoked potentials, nociceptive reflex measurement, skin biopsies etc.). He presents and teaches at various international conferences and served as WIP Instructor and Examiner for the FIPP Examination.

He completed his anesthesia training at Severo Ochoa Hospital, Madrid, and continued his specialization in pain management at Ciudad Real Hospital with his mentor and recognized pain physician, Dr. Joaquin Insausti. He is also certified interventional pain sonologist (CIPS), fellow of interventional pain practice (FIPP) and European diploma in pain medicine (EDPM). Currently working in Madrid at Puerta de Hierro Majadahonda Hospital, and managing the Cancer Pain multidisciplinary Unit at HM Sanchinarro Hospital.
